“Best Of” Top Moment of the Baseball Season-
The Altamont Indians defeated Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, 3 to 2, at Dozer Park in Peoria in the State Semi-Finals to secure their spot in the State Championship game. With the game tied, 2-2, Kaden Davis led off the bottom of the 7th inning with a single and Dillan Elam followed with a hit to put runners at 1st and 2nd with no one out. After a fly out by Nathan Stuemke and Keegan Schultz at the plate, Kaden Davis took off in an attempt to steal 3rd base. The catcher’s throw sailed into left field. Davis got up from his slide and scampered home well in front of the throw to give the Indians a 3 to 2, walk off win. The victory sent Altamont into the State Championship Game the next day.
