Female Athlete of the Year
Hannah Brown – The sophomore shot put specialist from Vandalia picked up where she left off from her freshman season, putting together a strong 2023 season. After going into the 2023 IHSA 1A State Meet ranked 19th and finishing in 13th, Brown built upon that progress and grabbed two top 4 finishes in two meets during the 2024 indoor season taking fourth at the Charleston Indoor Invitational and fourth at the Jersey Winter Thaw. Brown then placed fourth or better in every meet during the outdoor season prior to State. Brown had five first place finishes, three second place finishes, on third place finish and one fourth place finish. Brown took the top spot at the Altamont 1A Sectional to qualify for the IHSA 1A State Track Meet for the second year in a row. Brown went into the meet ranked 11th and found herself sitting in tenth after the State Prelims. Brown would then toss a personal best of 36’ 9.75” to reset her own school record and move up into medal contention where she would finish on the podium in 9th place.
