“Best Of” Winter Sports-Wrestling Moment of the Year
There were many possibilities throughout an outstanding wrestling season for the Vandals, but winning a state championship still tops the list. Vandals Junior Wrestler Sophie Bowers—who established herself as a Freshman as a top wrestler in the state—came away with the State Championship in the 125 pound weight class. Sophie was a state qualifier on the boys side as a Freshman and become one of the few girls to win a match at the Individual Boys State Tournament that year. Sophie then battled injuries before making it back for a strong Junior year and finishing it off with a State Championship at the girls IHSA Individual State Tournament.
