“Best Of” Winter Sports-Wrestlers of the Year

Sophie Bowers-Sophie long ago established herself as a great wrestler and a trailblazer with her success against the boys.  But, after battling through injuries, Sophie came up with a tremendous Junior year.  Wrestling boys, Sophie was 18-5 on the season and helped the Vandals to an outstanding year.  Then, Sophie wrestled in the girls state tournament and rolled through to a state championship at the 125 pound weight class.  Sophie will be returning for her Senior year looking to try and go back-to-back.

Dillon Hinton-Dillon put up one of the best individual years in Vandals wrestling history.  Dillon was 50-4 overall on the season with 33 wins by fall (and he was never pinned himself) and 101 takedowns.  Dillon took 2nd at the CM Tournament, 1st at the Princeton Tournament and 1st at the Litchfield Tournament.  Dillon capped that off by taking 2nd at the state tournament in the 138 pound weight class.  Dillon will return for his Junior year, leading an extremely talented Vandals wrestling team into the ’24-’25 season.

Kaden Tidwell-Kaden put together a very strong Junior season with a 40-12 record, 24 wins by fall and 61 takedowns.  Kaden was 2nd at the Litchfield Tournament, 4th at the CM Tournament and 6th at the Princeton Tournament.  Kaden seemed to get stronger and better as the season went along and put together a strong run at the Individual State Tournament that earned him a 3rd place finish at the 190 pound weight class.  Kaden will be part of the extremely talented group lining up for Coach Clay this coming winter.
