The 2023-24 Altamont Indians girls basketball team knew coming into the season they had a shot to be a very good team. But, nothing is ever guaranteed. The team took full advantage of their opportunities during the season and finished it off as only two teams get to do–with a win. The Lady Indians made it to state and battled Illini Bluffs in the semi-final game before running out of gas late and falling, 60 to 48. But, they bounced back and defeated Peru St. Bede, 64 to 56, in the 3rd place game and brought home the first ever state trophy in program history and ended their historic season with a record of 28-7.
