"Best Of" Fall Sports---All Area Volleyball Team


Karlee Smith – The senior led CHBC in kills with 124 and blocks with 52 while tallying 31 aces and a 93.7 serving percentage. Smith was named as the MVP for the Egyptian Illini Conference and was also named Second Team All-Conference for the National Trail Conference for the 2023 season.

Addie Sasse – As a sophomore, Sasse led the Eagles multi-pronged scoring attack on both ends of the ball with 233 assists and with 84 kills, while also leading the team in blocks with 21. Sasse was named Egyptian Illini Conference First Team All-Conference and National Trail Conference Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Lillie Eddy – In Ramsey’s first .500 season in about a decade, Eddy led the Lady Rams with 129 kills and 52 blocks while also tallying 51 digs and 32 aces. Eddy was named Egyptian Illini Conference Second Team All-Conference.

Emma Jenne – Senior MH/MB was second on the South Central Lady Cougars in kills with 169 and blocks with 34. Jenne was named to the Herrin Tournament All-Tournament Team and was named Second Team All-Conference for the National Trail Conference for the 2023 season.

Jenni Mezo – A defensive specialist and outside hitter for Mulberry Grove, Mezo tallied up 367 digs during the 2023 season, averaging 13.6 digs per match. Mezo also led the team in kills with 57 and was second on the team in aces with 33. Mezo was named Egyptian Illini Conference Second Team All-Conference.

Livi Wehrle – Junior middle hitter racked up 215 kills in the 2023 season for Vandalia while also adding in 176 digs, 21 aces and 8 blocks. Wehrle was the love Vandals selection for the South Central Conference All Conference Team being named Third Team All-Conference.

Emma Wodtka – The senior setter accounted for 387 assists for Vandalia in the 2023 season while also totaling 188 digs, 20 kills and 19 aces.

Reagan Roberts – South Central’s junior setter led I70Sports area setters with 422 assists for the 2023 season while ranking third for the Cougars in digs with 109 while adding on 29 kills and 24 aces for the season.

Peyton Garrard – The SEB senior libero had 279 digs in the 2023 season while also stepping up as a hitting threat with 57 kills as a back row hitter and also led the Eagles with 59 aces. Garrard was named Egyptian Illini Conference First Team All-Conference and National Trail Conference Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Melody Otto – A setter and outside hitter for Ramsey, Otto led the team in assists with 87 while being second on the team in kills with 79. Otto also led the team in aces with 55 and digs with 109. Otto was named Egyptian Illini Conference First Team All-Conference.

Marissa Summers – Stepping up into the starting setter roll in her senior season for CHBC, Summers racked up 358 assists with a .935 ball handling percentage. Summers also had 130 digs, 41 kills and 31 aces for the Egyptian Illini Conference Tournament runner-up Bobcats.

Genesis Williams – Mulberry Grove Lady Aces senior was second on the team in kills with 52, in aces with 24 and third on the team in digs with 219. Williams was named Egyptian Illini Conference Second Team All-Conference.
