Mulberry Grove baseball waited to do all of their scoring late in the game, but made it count as they got a 6-5 win over Bunker Hill on Monday in the quarterfinals of the Raymond Lincolnwood Regional. After two scoreless innings, Bunker Hill scored first to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the third and extended that lead to 3-0 in the top of the fifth inning. The Aces put some things together in the bottom of the fifth as Carter Scoggins would drive a run in on a single to left field and Aiden Walker followed up with a double to score another run as Mulberry Grove cut it to a one run game, 3-2. After holding Bunker Hill scoreless in the top of the sixth to keep it a one run game, the Aces again got to work in the bottom of the sixth inning. With runners at first and second and two outs, Logan Bauer reached base on an error to load the bases and Jackson Icenogle came up to the plate and doubled to left field to score two runs. After Logan Bauer scored on a ball, Scoggins followed that up with a single to right field as the Aces took a 6-3 lead. Bunker Hill was able to respond with two runs in the top of the seventh inning, but the Aces held them at bay to close out the 6-5 win and keep their season alive for at least one more game. Mulberry Grove is now 7-12 on the season and will play #2 seed Greenfield at Raymond on Wednesday at 4:30pm.
