Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City softball was held to just three hits in an 8-5 loss at Dieterich on Friday. After finding themselves down 4-0 after the first inning, the Bobcats got their first run on the board in the top of the second to trail 4-1, but Dieterich got their lead back to four with another run in the bottom of the second to make it 5-1. CHBC put up another run in the third, but the Maroons again countered, this time with three runs as CHBC trailed 8-2. The Bobcats were able to tack one run on in each of the final three innings, but could not string together enough offense as they suffer the 8-5 loss. CHBC drops to 0-4 with the loss and after being on the road for all four games to start their season, they will be at home this week for three games, starting with a matchup with North Clay on Monday.
