Vandals baseball gets come from behind, walk-off win in their Home Opener over Cumberland

The Vandals fell behind, but kept battling and earned the come from behind, walk off win over Cumberland in their Home Opener on Tuesday at Vandalia Mutual Field.

The Vandals trailed 10 to 6 to Cumberland but cut that to a 2 run deficit in the bottom of the 6th when Jackson Beall had a 2 out, 2 run single.  In the bottom of the 7th, the Vandals took advantage of some walks and wild pitches to get themselves in position.  Qwentyn Stombaugh’s fielder’s choice groundout brought home one run to make it 10 to 9.  Stombaugh then took 2nd base to give the Vandals runners at 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs and Freshman Catcher Andrew Casey at the plate.  With a 1-2 count, Casey got a perfectly placed hit to leftfield.
