BSE Lady Bombers fall by 2 in Regional Championship Game

The Brownstown-St. Elmo Lady Bombers withstood more than one run from Father McGivney in their Regional Championship Game on Friday night.  And, they were working on coming back from one last one when they ran out of time and lost, 47 to 45.

The Lady Bombers got off to a bit of a shaky start against the press by the longer, taller Lady Griffins.  But, they were able to shake that off and lead 10 to 7 after the 1st quarter.  The Lady Griffins then went on a run that saw them go up 21 to 13.  But, BSE would go on a 16-0 run in the middle of the 2nd quarter to put them up 29 to 21.  Father McGivney would rally and cut BSE’s halftime lead to 30 to 27.  The second half was much tighter offensively and saw the teams tied at 35 through the 3rd quarter.  BSE would never be able to get the lead in the 4th quarter and were never tied after it was 37-37.  The Lady Griffins then went on a late 8-0 run to get their lead to 45 to 37 with under 2 minutes to go.  But, the Lady Bombers had one more push in them and cut got it to a 2 point game with 4 seconds remaining.  Father McGivney would turn it over give the Lady Bombers one more shot at tying or taking the lead, but they couldn’t get a good look and lost by 2.

For the Lady Bombers, they finish at 26-8 and end a very strong year.
