Girls Basketball Postseason Continues Tonight; Altamont, BSE and CHBC in Semifinal Action

The IHSA girls basketball postseason tonight and three I70Sports area teams in Altamont, Brownstown-St. Elmo and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City will all be in action in the semifinal rounds of their respective regionals.

At Dieterich, #2 seed Altamont will play their first postseason game after a first round BYE. They will face Neoga who picked up a quarterfinal win over Cerro Gordo, 58-41, on Saturday. This will be just the second meeting of the season between the two National Trail Conference teams with the first coming just two weeks ago on January 29 when Altamont got away with the 63-57 victory over Neoga on the road. Tonight’s battle of the Indians will get underway at 6:00pm.

At Mt. Olive, #3 seed BSE is coming off of a 57-24 win at home over Bunker Hill in the quarterfinals and will not match up with #8 seed Maryville Christian in the quarterfinals who beat Metro East Lutheran 47-30 on Saturday. The Lady Bombers semifinal matchup tonight is set for 7:30pm.

At Effingham St. Anthony, CHBC will face the top seed and host St. Anthony Bulldogs on Monday evening. The Bobcats beat Decatur Unity Christian, 47-27, in the quarterfinals on Saturday to advance to the semifinals while St. Anthony had a first round BYE. The two teams previously met up once for their regular season NTC matchup back on December 7 with St. Anthony getting the 59-52 win over CHBC. The Bobcats and Bulldogs tip off at 6:00pm.
