The South Central Lady Cougars picked up their seventh win in their last nine games as they beat Martinsville on the road, 55-26, on Tuesday night. The Lady Cougars got off to a quick start as Taegan Webster with ten points and Lauren Johnson with nine points teamed up for 19 of South Central’s points in the quarter as they took a 24-5 lead after a quarter of play. South Central would outscore the BlueStreaks just 6-2 in the second quarter but would continue to hold a big lead, 30-7, at halftime. The Cougar offense would again come out hot in the third, returning from the break to outscore Martinsville 18-9 and extend their lead out to 48-16 as they moved into the fourth quarter. South Central was outscored 10-7 in the fourth, but the late offensive effort was not enough as the Cougars cruised to the win. South Central is now 9-7 on the season and will face a big test on Thursday as they travel to Altamont for a big National Trail Conference matchup.
