St. Elmo-Brownstown's Kairi Speagle Signs to Cheer for McKendree University

St. Elmo-Brownstown Eagles cheerleader Kairi Speagle will be continuing her cheerleading career at the collegiate level, inking her letter of intent on Thursday to cheer for Division II McKendree University beginning next season. Surrounded by her family and current and future cheer coaches, Speagle signed her letter and says the feel of the school and community when she visited the McKendree campus pushed her decision to attend school there.

With moving on to cheer at the collegiate level, Speagle says she is grateful for the coaches who have been there for her and taught her the skills needed to get to this level with her cheering.

During her high school cheerleading career, Speagle has earned several nominations and awards. During the Ultimate XPerience Cheerleading Camp just this past summer, Speagle was nominated to compete for Best Tumbler, Best Jumps, and Best Dancer. She had to compete on those skills and for a scholarship against girls from 13 other squads on the final day of camp. Speagle won Best Overall Jumps, Top 5 Senior Scholarship, Top 10 Tumbling, and Top 10 Jumps.

Speagle will be joining a McKendree cheer team that is coming off a 2022-2023 season in which they brought home two Top 5 finishes from the NCA Nationals Division II Cheerleading Competition where they placed 4th in the All Girls Division and 5th in the Small Coed Division.
