Illinois Braves 17U Falls in Semifinal Game at Play 9 Normal Elite Series


The Illinois Braves 2024 17U baseball team wrapped up play in the Play 9 Normal Elite Series Tournament at 2-2 after falling to Flood City Midwest 2024, 2-1, in the tournament semifinal. Runs would come in just one inning of the tight battle between the two teams. After three scoreless innings, the Braves would score the game’s first run in the top of the fourth inning. Altamont’s Mason Robinson hit a one out double to centerfield to get into scoring position and scored on a two out line drive single to center as the Braves took a 1-0 lead. Flood City would answer with two runs in the bottom half of the inning for a 2-1 lead. The game would again turn scoreless for the next three innings as Flood City closed out the win. Robinson would end the game going 2-3 with a run scored. Altamont’s Dillan Elam was held hitless in the game at 0-1.
