BSE Gets Walk Off Win Over Vandalia


Brownstown-St. Elmo got a win over Vandalia in exciting fashion on Thursday as the Bombers walked it off for the 9-8 win. The Bombers came out hot offensively with a run in the first and three more in the second to hold a 4-0 lead over the Vandals. Vandalia would get three runs on the board in the top of the third inning to cut the BSE lead to 4-3, but the Bombers would answer with three runs of their own to push their lead back up to 7-3. The Vandals would further close the gap with two more runs in the top of the fifth inning to cut it to 7-5. BSE would again be able to score with a run in the bottom of the fifth to edge their lead back out to 8-5. Vandalia was not done yet though and tied the game up with three runs in the top of the seventh inning to tie things up at 8-8. With a man on first in the bottom of the seventh inning with the game tied, Josiah Maxey would hit a double to score Caleb Campbell from first and give BSE the 9-8 win. BSE moves to 10-7 on the season with the win while Vandalia drops to 9-11.
