The Vandals had a huge 7-run 5th inning on Monday but their comeback attempt fell short as Vandalia lost to Lincolnwood 11-8 at home. The Vandals would fall behind 3-1 after the first two innings and Lincolnwood would lead 10-1 by the end of the top of the 5th inning. The Vandals would come to the plate and use some small ball of two doubles, a single and a couple fielder’s choice ground balls mixed in with a few walks to bring 7 runs across the plate and cut Lincolnwood’s lead down to two runs, trailing 10-8 at the end of the 5th. Lincolnwood would add another run in the top of the 6th and shutout the Vandalia in the 6th and 7th as Vandalia would suffer the tough 11-8 loss. Vandalia drops to 5-6 on the season.
