For the second weekend in a row, Vandalia track and field went up against some big opponents, competing in the Jersey Winter Thaw Indoor Meet at Principia College hosted by Jersey High School. The meet featured 30 teams from all 3 classes including 3A teams from Collinsville, Granite City and Quincy, 2A teams like Freeburg, Rochester and Highland and the more familiar 1A teams and conference opponents like Hillsboro, Staunton and Carlinville. The Vandals would put on a strong showing with eight Top 20 finishes in their 11 opportunities and would have one male athlete and one female athlete bring home medals. Sophomore Ian Whitehead finished in 5th Place in the High Jump with a height of 5’ 10” and Faith Duplayee finished in a tie for 5th Place in the Pole Vault with a height of 6’ 6”. The Vandals will begin their outdoor season one week from today with an SCC regular season meet at Carlinville with Staunton and Piasa Southwestern.
