The Vandalia Lady Vandals made it three wins in a row and eight wins in their last 10 games as they got a dominating win over Chester, 57-23, in the Consolation Championship game of the Christ Our Rock Lutheran Winterfest Tournament. The Lady Vandals would come out strong on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball to start the game as they got out to a 11-0 lead before allowing Chester their first basket of the game at 2:48 left in the first quarter and Vandalia would turn that into a 15-4 lead at the end of the quarter with the majority of the Lady Vandals points being a result of forced Chester turnovers. Defense would remain strong in the second quarter with the Lady Vandals only allowing Chester just one shot on many possessions. Offense would further get turned up with Anna Forbes putting up 11 points in the quarter and the Lady Vandals would outscore Chester 21-6, further pushing their lead out to 36-10 at halftime. After a 14-4 run in the third quarter to get their lead to 50-14 by the end of the third quarter, Vandalia would be outscored 9-7 in the fourth quarter, but would close out the big 57-23 win to finish the tournament at 3-1 and claim the Consolation Championship. The Lady Vandals are now 11-5 overall on the season and will have 5 days off before returning home to start the second of the season on Thursday. Vandalia (2-1 in SCC) will host South Central Conference foe Hillsboro who is 11-6 on the season and 2-0 in the SCC.
