The South Central bats were in full force on Thursday evening as the Cougars were a 13-6 winner over Windsor/Stew-Stras in their final game before the season ending National Trail Conference Tournament. After WSS put one run up in the top of the 1st inning, South Central got on the board in the bottom half of the inning after Chase Thompson singled to lead off the inning before Aidan Dodson hit a home run to right field to take a 2-1 lead. After another WSS run in the top of the 2nd, South Central busted the game open with a 7-run bottom of the 2nd inning. With bases loaded, Thompson singled in a run and then Dodson drew a bases loaded walk and brought in another run to make it 4-2. With the bases still loaded after the walk, Anthony Buonaura would hit a home run to right field with the grand slam making it 8-2. Before the inning would come to a close, the Cougars would make it 9-2 on an Ethan Watwood steal of home. WSS would close the gap with two runs each in both the third and fourth innings while holding South Central scoreless in that time to make it 9-6. The Cougars would have another big inning in the 5th, scoring a run on an error before Watwood would hit a three-run home run to center field to make it 13-6 and would hold WSS scoreless over the next two innings to close out the win. South Central is now 14-4 on the season and will be off until Monday when they will host North Clay at 4:00pm in the Quarterfinals of the NTC Tournament.
