South Central Falcons Softball Earns First Ever Trip to State Tournament

The South Central Middle School softball team is making history this season, capturing its first ever Sectional Championship and earning a trip the IESA 1A State Tournament for the first time ever. On Saturday, South Central defeated Dieterich 6-2 in the Hutsonville Sectional for the title. It was the fourth meeting of the season between the two teams, with the Falcons winning the first matchup, Dieterich winning the next two and South Central winning the most important matchup between the two very familiar teams for the Sectional title. The win moved the Falcons to 19-5 on the season and sets them up for a meeting with Bloomington Corpus Christi (20-1) in the state quarterfinals at 3:30pm on Friday at Champion Fields in Normal. A win on Friday would guarantee South Central two more games on Saturday and would also guarantee at least a top 4 finish and a state trophy.
