In a game counting for both the National Trail Conference and Egyptian Illini Conference standings, Brownstown-St. Elmo shut out Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City on Tuesday. After 2 ½ scoreless innings to start the game, BSE got on the board with three runs in the bottom of the 3rd and added one more in the 4th, two in the 5th and 3 more in the 6th while holding CHBC to no runs and only two hits to get the 9-0 win. Wyatt Stine got the win on the mound for BSE going 6 of the 7 innings and giving up just one hit while striking out 7. Kyle Behl, Josiah Maxey and Lucas Powell all went 2-3 at the plate for BSE while Behl also had an RBI. For CHBC, Clayton Wojcik suffered the loss on the mound and he and Blake Mueller each had a single hit for the Bobcats in the game. BSE is now 5-4 on the season and improves to 2-0 in the EIC and gets their first NTC win to be 1-3 in that conference. CHBC is now 0-7 on the season and is 0-4 in the NTC and 0-2 in the EIC.
