Pana (7-0) at Vandals (7-0), 7 pm
It’s a match up you have been able to see developing at least for a few weeks now—the 2 undefeated teams lining up at Mark Greer Field on Friday night. The Pana Panthers were again at #8 this week in the AP Poll for Class 3A football while the Vandals were again at #5. They are both the only two teams in the South Central Conference that have both scored over 300 points(323 for the Vandals, 314 for Pana) and have allowed less than 100 points (55 for the Vandals, 87 for the Panthers).
It will be Senior Night for the Vandals as their 21 Seniors will be honored before the game. Vandals QB Matthew Wells holds the all time team record for Touchdowns and offensive yards. He also holds the record for most wins as a starting QB and is now 23-7 all time as a starter coming into Friday night.
For Pana, they have a very diverse offense as they have multiple players who can get it done for them. Lane Perry has rushed for 596 yards in only 71 carries as the team’s fullback and receivers like Bryce Edmiston and Drake Spracklen can do a lot of damage. Pana’s defense—never big—will swarm at the ball and have multiple players in on the tackle on all plays.
